I’m Rustin M. Moore, a veterinarian, academician, and leader with six decades of experience interacting with animals. From raising animals in the Appalachian hills of West Virginia to helping care for sentient beings — both domestic and wild — to my role as an academic leader, my life's purpose has always been deeply rooted in the human-animal bond. This book was inspired by my experiences and the encouragement of many who recognize the transformative power of these interactions.
